How to upgrade to Windows10

Windows10 is here.Microsoft has announced Windows10 release date which is July 29.However you can get a preview of 10 right now.If you are running Windows7 or 8,you can upgrade to Windows10 just by updating your PC and its totally free.Microsoft wants to expand its reach by deciding to give it free. The whole process starts with Windows update.

 For Windows 7 > Go to start>control panel>Windows update>click check for update.
For Windows 8 > Press windows+r>type control.

When Windows update process is complete, you will see an upgrade page something like above.Size of the installation depends upon what version of current windows you are running like 32 bit or 64 bit.In most of the cases ,Windows will set things for you and you will be presented with Windows 10 setup and you just have to care for few things like username and time and you are good to go.But sometimes ,installation doesn't go well when installing with windows update. For that you can download an ISO image of the latest build and copy those files to USB drive or DVD and run from it.You can download ISO files here : (updated version for this article is here : Get Windows10

Another thing is when you install Windows10,it will give you an option to keep your files and pictures from previous OS and will upgrade to newer version but sometimes it doesn't work.During installation,it will try to keep these things by default but if you are still on Windows7 or 8 after setup is finished, try to change these settings when installing. There is an option"Keep Windows settings, personal files, and apps",click on "Change what to keep" and you have the option weather you want a clean install or want to remove some programs.

After installation which will take about 30-45 minutes,It will ask you to sign in with Microsoft account or you can sign-in with local account instead. After the upgrade, you will be running brand new Windows10.Microsoft also provide feedback option in Windows 10.If you are experiencing any problems in your current version of preview ,you can submit feedback. If you want your voice to be heard, you can open windows feedback and tell them what improvement can be done to make it better and trust me,they listen.
